Geothermal

Geothermal heat pump systems can be a major contributor in lowering utility bills. In addition to reducing energy consumption by up to 80%, they also control humidity, typically last over 20 years, and can be installed in most houses. They are extremely eco-friendly and currently qualify for rebates and tax credits that make the system cost very reasonable. Payback period can be less than 1 year when replacing a propane or electric heating system!

Geothermal systems are becoming more mainstream, but knowledge of how they work and how affordable they can be isnt as common. We have installed many of these eco-friendly systems in Kalispell, Whitefish and Bigfork.

A geothermal or "ground-source" heat pump is an electrically-powered device that uses the natural heat storage ability of the earth and/or the earth's groundwater to heat and cool your home or business. Like a refrigerator, a geothermal heat pump simply transfers heat from one place to another. When a refrigerator is operating, heat is being carried away from the inside food storage area to the outside, your kitchen. Therefore, cooling is not being added to the inside; heat is being taken out!

After applying existing rebates and incentives, both from Flathead Electric Cooperative and a National 30% Personal Tax Credit the capital cost of installing a geothermal system is nearly equivalent to the installation costs for a more conventional heating and cooling system. The annual operating costs are significantly lower for the geothermal system and monthly savings begin immediately.
